Kaduna Ramps Up Festive Security with Major NSCDC Deployment
Kaduna, Dec. 19, 2025 (NAN) – In a significant pre-emptive security move, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kaduna State Command has mobilized and deployed over 2,100 personnel across all 23 local government areas of the state. This large-scale deployment is a strategic response to bolster public safety and deter criminal activity during the forthcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations, a period historically associated with increased population movement and economic activity.
The announcement was made by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Habeeb Badamasi, in a detailed statement issued from Kaduna on Friday. The operational directive was authorized by the State Commandant, Panam Buba, following a comprehensive plan from the Operations Department.

Beyond Numbers: A Phased and Strategic Security Plan
Unlike routine patrols, this initiative represents a phased security strategy designed to cover the period before, during, and after the yuletide season. This extended timeline is crucial for addressing pre-holiday travel, peak festive gatherings, and the post-celebration return to normalcy. The deployment aims to create a visible and persistent security presence to reassure citizens and complicate the planning of criminal elements.
“This initiative followed the operational order from the Operations Department, approved by the State Commandant, and aims to bolster security before, during, and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations,” SC Badamasi stated.
Commandant’s Assurance and Stern Warning
Commandant Panam Buba has issued a dual message to the public and potential offenders. To residents, he offered firm reassurance: “We are here to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for everyone to enjoy this festive season. Residents can safely carry on with their regular lawful activities.” He emphasized the NSCDC’s core mandate and commitment to the protection of lives and property throughout the holiday period.
To criminal elements, the warning was unequivocal. The Commandant declared that NSCDC personnel, in collaboration with other security agencies, would be strategically stationed at critical infrastructure, worship centers, recreational venues, and major transportation hubs to deter and respond to crimes. “We are on alert, and those who choose to engage in unlawful activities will face serious consequences,” he affirmed. This coordinated, multi-agency approach is key to creating a seamless security net across the state.
Contextualizing the Deployment: Why Kaduna?
Kaduna State, a major economic and social hub in Nigeria’s North-West, has faced complex security challenges. A large-scale security deployment during a festive period serves multiple purposes:
- Deterrence: Visible patrols and checkpoints disrupt the planning and execution of crimes like kidnapping, armed robbery, and communal violence.
- Public Confidence: It allows for commercial and social activities to thrive, supporting the local economy during a peak spending period.
- Rapid Response: Pre-positioning personnel reduces response times to incidents, potentially saving lives and property.

Festive Greetings and the Call for Community Vigilance
While emphasizing security, Commandant Buba also extended warm seasonal wishes to the Christian community, encouraging reflection on the significance of Christmas. This gesture underscores the human element of the NSCDC’s role—protecting the right of citizens to celebrate peacefully.
SC Badamasi concluded that with these comprehensive security measures now actively in place, residents of Kaduna State can look forward to a safer and more enjoyable holiday season. The success of such operations, however, often hinges on complementary community vigilance—the public is encouraged to report suspicious activities to security forces promptly.
