In a significant move for domestic air travel in Nigeria, Air Peace Limited has officially announced the resumption of daily return flight operations between Ibadan and Abuja, effective December 24, 2025. This strategic resumption follows the reopening of the Ibadan Airport and directly addresses a critical gap in the nation’s transportation network.

The announcement, made by the airline’s spokesperson, Mr. Efe Osifo-Whiskey, underscores a direct response to persistent passenger demand. For residents of Oyo State and the broader Southwestern region, this route provides a vital, time-saving link to the nation’s capital, Abuja. Prior to this resumption, travelers from Ibadan faced the arduous choice of a long road journey or connecting through Lagos, adding hours and complexity to their trips. This daily service restores a crucial direct air bridge, particularly vital for business, governmental, and familial connectivity.

Osifo-Whiskey highlighted that introductory fares on the route will start from ₦95,000. In the context of Nigeria’s festive season—a period notorious for peak travel demand and often inflated prices—this pricing is positioned as a competitive and relatively affordable option. It offers travelers a reliable alternative to last-minute price surges and the uncertainties of road travel during the holidays.

The resumption is not merely a seasonal adjustment but is underpinned by tangible operational expansion. The airline has recently welcomed its third Embraer 190 aircraft into its fleet. This 50-seat regional jet is ideally suited for routes like Ibadan-Abuja, offering the right balance of capacity and efficiency. The addition of this aircraft is a key enabler, providing the “route flexibility and schedule reliability” that Osifo-Whiskey emphasized. It allows Air Peace to deploy assets strategically without compromising its core network, leading to more consistent and dependable service for passengers across all its domestic operations.

This decision is a clear embodiment of Air Peace’s stated corporate mission: to connect underserved markets and ease travel stress. The Ibadan-Abuja route is a prime example of a market with clear demand that has historically lacked consistent, high-quality air service. By recommitting to it, the airline is doing more than selling tickets; it is actively supporting socio-economic activities. Easier access between a major commercial hub like Ibadan and the administrative capital, Abuja, can stimulate business, encourage investment, and foster stronger inter-governmental and cultural ties.

For prospective travelers, this resumption means more than just a new flight schedule. It represents reduced travel time, enhanced convenience, and a dependable option during one of the busiest travel periods of the year. The daily frequency suggests a commitment to making this route a permanent fixture, promising long-term benefits for regional integration and economic growth in Nigeria.

Consequently, Air Peace reaffirms its role as a pivotal player in developing Nigeria’s aviation landscape, moving beyond the major hubs to create a more comprehensive and resilient national network. (Based on a NAN report edited by Sandra Umeh)
