The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), alongside sister agencies, has initiated a comprehensive deployment plan to ensure the safety of travelers and residents during the festive period. This annual mobilization is critical, as holiday seasons typically see a significant surge in interstate travel, increased commercial activity, and large social gatherings, all of which heighten the risks of road accidents and security challenges.
FRSC’s Strategic Traffic Management Plan
In an exclusive interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the FRSC Sector Commander in Bauchi, Mr. Apaji Boyi, detailed the command’s operational readiness. The corps has deployed a substantial force of 452 personnel and 12 patrol vehicles to manage the anticipated increase in traffic volume. This human and logistical deployment is strategically focused, with initial concentrations on the major entrances to the state. “We are conscious of the volume of traffic that will be coming into Bauchi… we have deployed both personnel and logistics, presently, we are concentrating on the entrances to the state,” Boyi explained.
The command’s preparedness extends beyond mere presence. A critical component of their strategy includes emergency response capabilities, with five ambulances and one tow truck deployed. This multi-faceted approach aims not only to ensure free traffic flow but also to provide immediate assistance in the event of accidents, thereby reducing secondary incidents and congestion. NSCDC’s Comprehensive Security Blanket
Complementing the FRSC’s efforts, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Bauchi has activated its own extensive security plan. In a statement released by Public Relations Officer Saminu Yusuf, the corps announced the deployment of 1,100 personnel. This deployment is designed for both covert and overt operations, creating a visible deterrent while maintaining intelligence-gathering capabilities.
The NSCDC’s mandate is broad, covering the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, a key duty of the corps. Their operational focus will also include joint patrols of flashpoints, worship centres, parks, eateries, banks, and hotels—locations that typically experience high foot traffic during festivities. The State Commandant has directed all area and divisional commanders to intensify patrols, dominate public spaces, and remain vigilant throughout the season. The public is urged to be partners in security by reporting any suspicious activities or movements to the nearest NSCDC office, embodying the community-policing ethos.

Similarly, the Bauchi State Police Command, under Commissioner Omolori Aliyu, has reassured residents and visitors of adequate security for a peaceful celebration. In a statement conveyed by Police Public Relations Officer Nafiu Habib, the Commissioner charged all tactical commanders and divisional officers to intensify patrols and maintain a proactive security posture. The police emphasized the importance of community vigilance, urging the public to “see something, say something” and report suspicious activities promptly. This tripartite security approach—FRSC for traffic, NSCDC for critical infrastructure and public spaces, and the Police with overarching law enforcement—aims to create a layered security environment.
