As Christians in Kogi State and around the world celebrate Christmas 2025, the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS), Dr. Sule Enehe, has issued a profound call to move beyond mere festivity. In a statement released in Lokoja and signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs, Muhammad Idris, Dr. Enehe extended warm greetings to the management and staff of the Service while framing the season as a pivotal time for introspection and recommitment to core human values.

Dr. Enehe emphasized that the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ is not just a historical event but a living template for conduct. He described it as “central to faith and humanity,” urging Christian staff and all believers to engage in a period of spiritual renewal. This renewal, he argued, must be anchored in actively embracing the virtues that Christ embodied: “love, peace, humility, and selflessness.”

Moving beyond abstract ideals, the KGIRS boss provided a compelling rationale for why these virtues matter in a professional and public context. He explained that love and selflessness are the bedrock of genuine service. For a revenue agency, this translates to viewing taxpayers not merely as sources of income but as partners in the state’s development, deserving of respect and efficient service. Peace and humility, he noted, are essential for fostering a harmonious and collaborative workplace, which directly impacts team productivity and morale.

“These virtues are essential for personal growth, peaceful coexistence, and effective service delivery within the Service,” Dr. Enehe stated, making a direct link between individual character and institutional performance. He reaffirmed the leadership’s commitment to cultivating an environment of unity, dedication, and professionalism.

The Chairman offered a practical application of this Christmas message, encouraging staff to engage in outreach to the underprivileged. He posited that such acts of compassion have a ripple effect: they humanize the individual, strengthen bonds between colleagues, and ultimately build deeper trust with the community the Service serves. “There is no greater love,” he remarked, pointing to the example of Christ’s life as the ultimate guide for rededication to serving humanity.

In essence, Dr. Enehe’s message reframes Christmas as a strategic pause—a time for public servants to reflect on the ‘why’ behind their work. By connecting spiritual reflection to professional ethos and community trust, the statement elevates a seasonal greeting into a meaningful commentary on governance, service, and shared humanity. The KGIRS leadership, through this message, underscores that the principles celebrated at Christmas can and should inform a more empathetic, effective, and trusted public institution throughout the year.
