In a significant post-festive season assessment, the Commissioner of Police for Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has issued high praise for the security architecture that ensured a peaceful Christmas and New Year period. The commendation extends beyond police operatives to include sister agencies and, crucially, the residents of Anambra, highlighting a modern, community-centric model of policing.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) Anambra Command, Ikioye Orutugu, has formally commended police operatives, other security agencies, and residents for their collaborative efforts in ensuring a peaceful and secure yuletide season across the state.

Orutugu’s appreciation was conveyed in a statement released on Monday in Awka by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga.

“I want to commend the police operatives, other security agencies, and Anambra residents for their dedication, courage, and professionalism during the yuletide security operations across the state,” he stated.

The Power of Synergy: A Multi-Agency Success

CP Orutugu emphasized that the observed peace was not a matter of chance but the direct result of deliberate collaboration. He noted that the synergy among the Police Command, sister security agencies (such as the Army, Navy, DSS, and NSCDC), and other security stakeholders was the instrumental factor. This approach, often termed “joint task force” operations, allows for shared intelligence, coordinated patrols, and a unified command structure that prevents criminals from exploiting gaps between different security bodies.

Community Partnership: The Bedrock of Modern Policing

Moving beyond inter-agency cooperation, the CP reserved special thanks for the people of Anambra. He highlighted their cooperation, vigilance, and support as central to the operation’s success. This underscores a critical shift in security philosophy: effective policing is increasingly impossible without active community partnership. When residents trust security agencies enough to provide timely tips, report suspicious activities, and avoid shielding criminals, it creates an inhospitable environment for lawlessness.

A Call for Sustained Vigilance in the New Year

Looking forward, CP Orutugu appealed for a deepening of this partnership. “As the state ushers in the new year, there is the need for residents to deepen their cooperation with security agencies by providing timely information,” he urged. This call to action recognizes that security is a continuous endeavor, not a seasonal one. He reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to proactive policing—preventing crime before it occurs—and the unwavering protection of lives and property.

“The Anambra Police Command remains steadfast in its resolve to sustain strategies that will continue to enhance public safety and security across the state,” he affirmed.

The successful yuletide security operations in Anambra serve as a practical case study in how integrated security management, combining robust police action, inter-agency collaboration, and willing community participation, can yield tangible peace and safety. It sets a positive precedent for security management in the state for the year 2025. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
