Abuja, Dec. 12, 2025 (NAN) The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) said its position in Nigeria’s digital identity ecosystem has been solidified following donation of 350 NIMC-certified Android National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment devices from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Postmaster General of the Federation/Chief Executive Officer, Tola Odeyemi, said on Friday while receiving the KOICA team led by Country Director, Mr Eunsub Kim, that the strategic intervention marked a major step in fulfilling Nigeria’s digital inclusion mandate.
At the formal hand over of the 350 NIMC-NIN devices which held in Abuja, Odeyemi said NIPOST, as a critical player would serve Nigerians better particularly the underserved populations.
The PMG likened the donation to a strategic alignment and a strategic investment in Nigeria’s digital future.
“ NIPOST’s extensive national network, its unparalleled physical presence in every corner of the country, positions it as a crucial enabler of accessible and inclusive NIN registration.
“ This initiative directly supports the Federal Government’s core mandate of ensuring nationwide access to essential public services,’’ she said.
Odeyemi’ emphasised that the 350 devices would significantly enhance NIPOST’s capacity to penetrate hard-to-reach communities,
She said,“Their impact will directly accelerate the country’s digital transformation agenda by bridging the identity gap.’’
KOICA’s Country Director, Mr Eunsub Kim, confirmed that the donation fell under the agency’s expansive four-year initiative (2022–2026), of ‘Building Foundations Towards Digital Governance in Nigeria’.
He said the devices were not merely hardware; they come fully equipped with pre-installed enrolment software licences, training, and delivery support, ensuring immediate and effective utilization by NIPOST staff.
“The broader KOICA project aims to achieve several key national goals.
“ This includes updating Nigeria’s e-Government Master Plan to Version 2.0.
“ Developing Enterprise Architecture Frameworks for key Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
“ Driving digital capacity building at National and Sub-national levels.
“Creating Nigeria’s first **Single-Window Government Service Portal (GSP),’’ he said.
Kim said NIPOST’s enhanced enrolment capacity, therefore, placed it at the very start of the digital access funnel.
He said GSPs introduction was set to fundamentally change how the citizens and businesses interact with federal and state government agencies.
Kim underscored that the forthcoming GSP woud rely heavily on NIN authentication for the citizens to access future digital public services.
In a collaborative gesture, the KOICA Country Director requested NIPOST’s cooperation in two key areas.
They were:“ Onboarding at least one NIPOST digital service onto the new GSP platform and designating a focal person to liaise closely with Galaxy Backbone Limited to ensure seamless coordination and technical integration.”
He added that the donation reinforced the enduring partnership between KOICA, the Grant Aid Agency of the Republic of Korea, and Nigeria, since 2008.
“ This also strengthens NIPOST’s commitment to delivering convenient, efficient, and inclusive NIN registration services nationwide.” (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
