Asaba, Dec. 19, 2025 (NAN) – In a vibrant celebration marking the spirit of the season, the Wife of the Delta State Governor, Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, delivered a powerful message to the youth, framing diligence, love, and spiritual grounding not just as seasonal sentiments, but as the essential building blocks for a purposeful life.
Hosting the 2025 Children’s Christmas Party at Government House in Asaba, Mrs. Oborevwori, founder of the ‘You Matter Charity Foundation’, addressed over 500 children drawn from the state’s 25 local government areas. She described Christmas as a season of “love, generosity, and shared joy,” but emphasized that its deeper lesson is a year-round commitment to core principles.
“You represent the future of Delta State and our nation,” she stated, urging the children to remain disciplined and committed to their education. Her call for diligence and hard work was expanded with practical context: “Success is rooted in consistent effort. This means showing up every day for your studies, practicing a skill with patience, and understanding that challenges are part of the journey. Whether you aspire to be a doctor, an engineer, an artist, or a farmer, it is your daily determination that will turn those dreams into reality.”
Beyond academic and personal discipline, Mrs. Oborevwori highlighted a triad of foundational values:
1. The Fear of God & Spiritual Grounding: She advised the children to seek divine guidance, explaining that a strong moral compass helps in making wise decisions, builds resilience during setbacks, and fosters a sense of humility and service to others.
2. Cultivating Love: This was framed both as an internal principle and a social responsibility. “Love is the force that builds strong families and communities. It means showing kindness to your peers, respecting your elders, and understanding that your actions affect those around you.”
3. The Importance of Shared Joy & Community: The event itself was a practical example of this value. By gathering children from across the state, the party served as a microcosm of unity and shared celebration, reinforcing the message that individual growth is intertwined with community well-being.
Earlier, the Wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Josephine Emu, welcomed guests and commended Mrs. Oborevwori for sustaining the annual tradition. “This party is a clear demonstration of her passion for child development and welfare,” Dr. Emu noted, underscoring how such initiatives provide more than just festivity—they offer recognition, inspiration, and a sense of belonging to young citizens.
In a brief exhortation, Mrs. Nkechi Onianwa spoke on ‘God’s love for humanity,’ drawing from biblical passages. She encouraged the children to love one another, respect their parents, and remain firm in their faith, providing a spiritual anchor to the day’s themes.
The event, aligned with a vibrant World Colour Day theme, transcended a simple party. It was a pedagogical experience wrapped in celebration. It featured music, dance performances, games, and other fun-filled activities, culminating in the distribution of gifts. This blend of merriment and mentorship created a memorable platform where life lessons were imparted amidst laughter and joy.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the lively and colourful atmosphere of the annual event successfully merged festive celebration with a profound investment in the character and future of Delta State’s children. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
