Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed profound grief over the passing of former Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, describing it as a monumental loss not just for the state, but for the Anioma nation and Nigeria as a whole.

In an official condolence message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, on Friday, Governor Oborevwori eulogized Nwaoboshi as a proud son of Delta and a fearless champion for the Anioma people. He emphasized that the late senator’s contributions to nation-building were both significant and enduring.

The governor specifically highlighted Nwaoboshi’s impactful tenure in the National Assembly, where he brought focused leadership to the crucial Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs. This role was more than ceremonial; it placed Nwaoboshi at the heart of policymaking for a region long plagued by underdevelopment and environmental challenges. His advocacy, Oborevwori noted, was a consistent and powerful voice demanding equitable development and resource allocation for the Niger Delta and Delta State, marking him as a deeply committed and passionate leader.

Delving into his political journey, the governor outlined the foundations of Nwaoboshi’s rise: “His prominence was anchored on a rich political pedigree, selfless service, and an unwavering commitment to democratic ideals.” This dedication was demonstrated through his meritorious service as a two-time Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, a role critical to party structure and grassroots politics.

“The late lawmaker devoted his life to the service of his people, the party, and the nation,” Oborevwori stated, leaving behind a legacy defined by courage, loyalty, and an unwavering dedication to public service.

Governor Oborevwori concluded with a personal tribute: “On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I mourn the passing of my dear friend, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the people of the Anioma nation, members of our great party, and all those whose lives he touched. I pray that Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and gives his family, friends, and associates the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
